Who wants to stand around a hot stove all day long just to make
something to eat? There are better things you can be doing. Like
watching sports on television!
How do you cut time in the kitchen and make it fun too? Well,
here we have some ideas for you. Aren't you the lucky guy today?
Why not play some tunes while you cook? Don't get carried away
and start dancing in the kitchen. You can easily end up burning you or
the dog. If you feel that you can concentrate, by all means listen to
some music while you cook. I think it makes the time go by so much
faster. Nothing is better than listening to music while you cook. You
can also watch television. Don't glue your eyeballs to the TV while
you are trying to flip over your fish filet. You will end up with it
in your face. If you can take small breaks while you cook to glance
over at the TV, it makesmake the time fly by.
Why not sing or hum? Don't think you can listen to the radio
while you cook? Break out the tunes in your head. You will have fun
and you will feel great after you are done. Singing is a great way to
ease stress. Do your prep work in advance. Why not do your cutting and
chopping in advance. There are a lot of things that you can make that
you can either cut up the night before or you can start cooking the
night before. For example, you might be able to whip up a batter for
your Asian fish dish the night before. That will save you time and
energy.
Some things you can cook in advance. If you are making a chicken
salad for example, you can cook the chicken the night before. Just
cook it completely and put it in the ice box. I would suggest that you
pull it off of the bones before you stick it in there. I think it is
easier to pull meat off of the bone while it is still hot. Eat your
leftovers! Don't let that food go to waste. There are hungry people in
this world! Not only that, but by eating leftovers, you can cut down
on your cooking time. Why not make a little extra each night for
dinner and one day a week eat leftovers? Also you pay good money for
that food. You shouldn't waste your money. Save that money and give it
to charity or take your lover out on the town.
You can always double the rrecipeand make twice as much. This
kind of goes back to the leftovers we spoke about. There are some
great foods that you can heat the next day and it does taste better.
It think chili is one of those foods. I think it tastes better the
next day. I would avoid buying things that are already cooked in
advance. Don't go to the store and buy already prepared chicken or
other meats. Not only are these probably loaded with fat, but they are
very expensive.
The same is true for already cut veggies. I see these in the
store and wonder who is stupid enough to actually buy these. They tend
to cost about ten times as much as veggies that aren't cut. This is a
real waste of money. Learn how to use a knife. One of the best
investments you might make is in a chopper. These are things that you
put your stuff in them, pounce on the handle, and the food is done.
This is a great thing to make salsa or chicken salad on the go. Though
if you don't have the money to spare, I wouldn't run out to buy one.
If you do have some extra bucks laying around, I would go for it.
These are great and easy to clean.
Soup mixes can be a great way to add
zing to a dish. Make sure that you get the ones that are low in salt.
If you don't, your mouth will taste like a salt shaker for hours to
come. I hope you have learned something today.
I know that I have refreshed my memory a bit
and plan on cooking some things that I haven't in awhile. Like some
chicken salad!
